New Car

I kind of fell off the face of the internet this past week.  I had a military ball to go to on Friday and then was forced to spend the whole weekend, and now this week, car shopping.

I had another appointment at my GYN on Tuesday.  I'm currently CD36, no +OPK, no +HPT and my BBT looks like an up and down roller coaster.  Another anovulatory cycle.   I was put on  Provera (progesterone) to induce my period and my Clomid was increased from 50mg to 100mg.  No BW or U/S because they weren't sure my insurance would cover it.  So double meds means double mood swings.  Everyones favorite!

If Clomid 100mg and 150mg do not work then he mentioned referring me to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist).  Again he started talking about having a SA (semen analysis) done on Bean, but at this point it doesn't matter how great or shitty the swimmers are because they have nothing to swim to.

Last weeks accident left my car totaled.  I really liked car and I don't enjoy car shopping.  When I bought my car I didn't care what year it was, the color or the features.  I just wanted that type of car and bought the first one I went to see.  I was easy then.  Not so easy this time.  Awhile ago I mentioned upgrading my husband's truck for a more family friendly vehicle like a smaller SUV.  After driving Tank (the rental car) around for the past week I decided I didn't want a larger vehicle.  I don't need the space.  All I carry around are my pets and photography equipment, nether take up that much space.  There is the occasional airport run but I'm sure there is a bus schedule or something for those people.  I don't have kids and at the rate I'm going the car will be paid off before the ovaries return from their vacation.

I bought a VW New Beetle convertible.  Same car I had before but a few years newer, different color and no roof.  No roof means I lost a lot of trunk space since my backseat no longer folds down.  I figured this choice would be the least family friendly.  I'll be a happy infertile...

When I go to my GYN appointment to get a refill on my fertility meds or another layer of cell cut off my cervix I'll think of the soccer mom in the mini van.  Especially when I pass them on the highway because they couldn't get to 60MPH in less than 10 second.  Oh the wind blowing threw my hair and the sun on my vitamin D deficient skin.  Enjoy Radio Disney and the stretch marks!

  1. Ah, Selbe. I'm sorry to hear of your crappy cycle and of the headache you face first with a car accident and now car shopping. We just went through the shopping part, and are still waiting on our new car. 6 weeks later. Ya, don't ask.
(hugs). Your chart makes me just want to hug ya.
xo (p.s. - I hope you don't mind if I add you to my 'Stalking' list?)

  3. Our rusty trusty 1997 minivan with 280,000 recently gave up on us and we also found ourselves car shopping. Between that and our IVF cycle, we spent more than half of what we'll earn this year in one month. Ick!

My first car was a little orange vw bug. I loved it, and really miss it sometimes. I always think about it when I see the new beetles. I'll wave next time, just in case it is you indoor new car!

You didn't ask, and I hope its okay that I offer this advice, but I strongly advise the SA sooner rather than later. It is such a cheap and non-invasive test that can give you SO much information. I seriously think it should be a part of all pre-conception testing, bc it would save so much pain and heartbreak, and give couples a head start on treating any issues (many of which are treatable.)

Oh and I also had cervical dysplasia which was treated with a LEEP, then progressed to CIN 1. My local GYN wanted to do another LEEP, but I got a second referral at a research university and they advised strongly against further treatment and instead put me on a close monitoring protocol. Apparently my body just needed some time to heal itself. Feel free to email me if you want more info... (foxypopcorn at gmail)

I'm sorry about your poor car. My DH was in an accident the other week and his car was written off too. I hate car shopping so not looking forward to the process of finding him a new one!

Enjoy the roofless bug!! Sounds like fun!!

Wishing you the best of luck with your journey. xx
